Thought should be given about what the message is and when it is conveyed. Sometimes a message only prompts an urge to respond in a mutual way, potentially pushing the parties away or creating inertia. Movement is the key to progress. A message can chill or encourage, and if you are unable to convey one that does the latter, consider not conveying one at all.

Watch your step! How and where you move in mediation can be the difference between success and unplanned failure. The other room is watching and they will react. If you send concerning signals, or make them think a resolution is unlikely, they may send the same back to you. Look at where you are about to step each move and consider how you would react. Would it slow you down or drive you away? Will it help or harm the pace or prospects of resolution?
